John Wall closing in on extension

John Wall and the Washington Wizards are close to reaching a deal in his contract that could be worth $80 million over five years. This deal will secure Wall’s position as the franchise player for the Wizards. Both the Wizards and Wall’s agent have until October 31 to complete the deal, but sources say that the deal will likely be signed by August 1.

Wall is currently in Las Vegas participating in the Team USA Summer Camp.

Last season, Wall missed the first 33 games due to a knee injury. Upon his return, Wall averaged 19 points and eight assists. If he signs the deal, this will be his third season with Washington after being selected first in the 2010 NBA Draft.
