Ryan Gomes moves to Oklahoma

Ryan Gomes and the Oklahoma City Thunder have reached a deal. Both parties have agreed on a one-year contract worth the veteran minimum, about $1.2 million.

Last season, Gomes played overseas in Germany after being released by the Los Angeles Clippers. During the 2011-2012 season, he averaged 2.3 points and played in only 32 games.

During his best season (2008-2009), he averaged 13 points and five rebounds.

Gomes has also played for the Boston Celtics and Minnesota Timberwolves and was a starter for five out of seven NBA seasons.

Coming in as a forward, it is highly unlikely that Gomes will see much playing time. The Thunder have the talents of Serge Ibaka, Kevin Durant and Nick Collison. If he does see any playing time, he will come off of the bench for one of the above mentioned players.

At 6’7, Gomes does offer the team more height, which can be helpful when playing a team like the Indiana Pacers whose roster includes 11 out of 15 players at 6’5 and above.
